What does "Structured Wood" Mean ?

The floor is made up of three layers of wood. The top wear layer is solid hardwood, bonded to a middle layer of spruce fingers running at 90 degrees to the top surface, and the base layer is a thin backing panel which balances the structure. In a quality floor, the graining in the core fingers is nearly upright, giving best stability in a changing environment.
